Body waits,
stalled at the edge of breath,
listening for the signal
to press the next sigh.

Cosmos waits,
stars expand toward collapse,
light stretching thin
across the equilibrium.

We are the interval
between breath and its exhale,
between process and its slowing.

Waiting,
spine of the body,
spine of the universe

This is so gorgeous and cosmic. I love how body and universe meet through breath.

I like the metaphor: expansion/contraction, corporeal/cosmic. It just works.

Thank you. It started as a much more complex idea in another Bone/Constellation poem. But it distilled into this. Much simpler and makes more sense aesthetically ❤

Loved this poem. Especially, the last stanza. Like an incantation!

These poems are moments pulled from the folds of everyday life, memory, myth and imagination. They are invitations to pause, to notice, and to enter the spaces between words.

One written each day.

Some days are a prick.
Some are a blessing.
